How it feels to be a Fauji brat- [Part 2]

How it feels to be a Fauji brat- [Part 2]

As we are raised in Defence Background, Most of the children’s motive is to qualify NDA i.e National Defence Academy or to join INA that is Indian Naval Academy. Since our childhood, we have been getting prepared to qualify these exams but only a few of us get qualified.

Most of the families in Navy belong to Middle class so we have perfection in bargaining things at the lowest price as possible. But most of the Domestic Item and accessories are brought from Canteen.

We have INCS Canteen which provides every possible domestic as well as accessories at a discount rate. Things like Soaps, Detergents, edible oils, Washing Machine, A/C, Fridge etc are sold at Discount rates. The Groceries items are brought from Shops inside the base with a fixed price. Due to all these facilities, we don’t have to go somewhere else to buy any household goods.

Navy conducts many Activities like Inter-division sports competition, Marathons, Yoga sessions, Blood donation camp, Navy mela etc. Navy also conducts get together parties and musical evenings that are enjoyed by all Navy personnel and their Families. One of the most enjoyable days is Family Day or Day at Sea on which the families of the navy personnel get the opportunity to sail in the Ships and experience the life of a Navy personnel for a Day.

On Family Day all families assemble on Naval Port at sharp 6pm and on 8 pm final boarding takes place and the ship sets off for the sail. During the sail, Navy Personnel demonstrates the working of the Navy and the soldiers. The soldiers demonstrate various operations like sending a person from one ship to another during the sail, How submarines dive in sea, How a helicopter can be used to save a drowning person , How MARCOS do their search operation on an unknown boat or a ship, How a super speed MiG 29K jet takes off and lands from an aircraft carrier (currently its INS Vikramaditya), etc. During all this process the soldiers continuously provide snacks and lunch to the guest to energies them. And at around 8pm the sail ends and all the guests go to their home with some amazing souvenirs.

In the Naval residential area, there is no practice of racism or religion discrimination here people respect everyone and every religion. Some bases also have Temples, Mosques, Churches, and Gurudwaras. And everyone performs their Religion rituals in peace without any objection.

The special part about being in Defence background is that we make friends all across the country. As all of you know that our Father often gets transferred from one place to another so as their family. Shifting from a place is a difficult job as we get attached to that place but settling on a new place is easy as we get used to making friends in a small time. When our friends get transferred to the same place the happiness to meet them is on another level. Because of our Transfer system, we get the opportunity to live in different bases in different state gaining whole new experiences. Due to this, we make friends all over the country and our friend list goes on increasing. I myself have got the opportunity to stay in states like Maharashtra(Mumbai), Orissa(Chilka), Andhra Pradesh(Vishakhapatnam), Kerala(Kochi) and have thousands of friends.

At last, I want to say that being a fauji brat is a special privilege that my father gifted me and I am Thankful to him for this.

Soon my Father is going to retire from the service so soon I will post a Blog on what difficulties are faced by a retired person and his family in the civil world so stay tuned, and keep reading my blog….

How it feels to be a Fauji Brat - My Expertise [PART1]

Hello guys, this is my first blog and I hope that this would let you know the experience of a fauji brat.
First of all if you guys notice any mistake please ignore it as I am not good at English( But managed to score good marks in my 12th Boards....).  So without any unnecessary talks let's start.

First of all let me tell you that my father is currently serving in Indian Navy  and my elder brother is also in Indian Navy so I am the one of few childrens who are born in a Naval background so I have been raised in Naval Background and I am proud of that.  Apart from the other parents of the world (specially India) our parents don't desire or wish to make their child an iitian or a doctor just they wish to make their child an officer in Indian Navy or the other parallel forces ( i.e Army or Air Force) and as we see our father's leaving for their work wearing White uniforms  we also get inspired and aspire to join Navy.

As we see our father's working day and night to protect our motherland and its development we also build the same emotions in our hearts.

We live in a defence area called as Navynagar or Nausenabaugh which is under 24*7 high security.
Navynagar is Naval residental area where all Naval personnel with their family stay till they have their posting at that place.

As Navy think for the well being of the naval personnel as well as for well being of their families so Navy has constructed a school namingly Navy Children School (NCS)  that is for only naval children and it is having a good infrastructure as well as an excellent faculty. But Navynagar also have Kendriya Vidyalaya which is a government school which also has a great faculty and infrastructure.  I have studied in kv2 vishakhapatnam.
Now you guys will think that why I did not join NCS but joined kv?The only reason I didn't joined NCS is due to my late admission because at the time of admission I was on a vacation to my village and my brother and sister were alumini of KV.
Navynagar also  have kindergarten for toddlers which is great.  Navy like its parallel forces provides medical facilities for free to the defence personnel and their families. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar presents best Armed Forces Hospital award to Indian Navy Hospital Station Ashvini .INHS Ashvini is the first of amongst all the Naval hospitals which, in 1756, started functioning in barracks as King’s Seamen Hospital for in- patients.
INHS Ashvini consists of cardiology centre which was established in the year 1985. It also has a Nephrology, Urology and Renal Transplant Centre. The Nephrology department of Asvini is one of the oldest in the Country and is a pioneer in renal transplantation in the Armed Forces. A total of 275 renal transplants have been done at this centre.
Gastroenterology Centre, Nuclear Medicine Centre and Neurology Centre. Apart from these, over 500 patients are treated monthly, mostly on a day care basis in the Oncology Centre of INHS Asvini. It was established with the aim of providing state of art multidisciplinary cancer treatment including chemotherapy, surgery, and radiotherapy.
INHS Asvini’s Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery Centre is well equipped to undertake all types of Heart Surgeries. It was established in 2002. The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Centre department at INHS Asvini has a well-equipped Burns Unit. Reconstructive flaps including micro vascular free flaps are often used. Cosmetic Surgical procedures performed include Liposuction, Rhinoplasty, Breast Augmentation, and Hair Transplants etc.
The INHS Asvini also has an Orthopaedics Centre, Department of Gynaecology, Department of Paediatrics, Department Of Ophthalmology, Department of ENT, Department of Dermatology, Department of Psychiatry, Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Department of Pathology and Department of Radiology.
Navynagar is a place where not only the naval personnel but also their wives have camaraderie.

Now the further part will be in Part 2.
